Study help for the California permit test. Last written August 2026.

What this is

Open Road Ready helps you practice the California written permit test. Every answer names the handbook section it comes from, so you can check us.

We are not the California DMV. This is study help, not legal advice, and not the real test. The official handbook is the DMV's. We write our own practice and link you to their book.

Accounts

You sign in with a link we email you. No password. We ask for a date of birth once, because the real California test is longer under 18.

A family board holds up to six people. Inviting someone emails them a link. They have to sign in with that same address to join.

Free and paid

Free practice is real practice: three sessions a day. Going back over what you missed is always free and does not count toward that three.

Paid plans lift the daily cap. Prices are on the Plans screen. Tell us you passed and we stop the next bill. You keep access until the month you already paid for ends. You can cancel yourself from that screen.

Card charges, when they are on, go through Stripe. We do not keep your card number.

Use

Use this to study. Do not use it during the real DMV test. Do not try to break the service or harvest the questions to republish them.

Changes

We can change these terms. The date at the top is when we last did. Using the product after a change means you accept the new words.
